VIDEO COMPRESSION RATE SAMPLES -posting in progress
What's too big for the web? A lot of factors come in to play here. The users internet connection speed, the amount of data and clarity you need to deliver, to stream or download and etc. Many times, only the information matters and the minimal clarity will do, other times only the quality to portray your product matters most and still other times you have to convey a plot.
In the sample above for "Scenics", the smaller clip is hardly worth posting due to the clarity of stock footage. The smaller clip, at 9.4 megs is too big for a dial-up download, yet this particular clip is "push prompted" - not "hinted" streaming so that on a dialup it will feed with minimal buffering for anyone who has a "faux" accellerator.
In the "Cashew Music Video", featuring Miles Osland, sound was the primary concern and is compressed at a lesser rate than the video which takes up over half the file size.
Below I've posted a broad range of clips in streaming and download availability for you to decide. HOWEVER... don't judge the speed on your, or only one computer system and connection configuration. Clips courtesy of Nash Farm.
