Airbrush Illustration is achieved here, with use of frisketing(adhesive plastic) or hand held shields to create a more defined edge or area. Most often working on cold press board with liquid watercolors or airbrush formulated acrylic.
Frisket is applied over the drawing and cut out with an Exacto knife. Sections are peeled up and painted, the the frisket is reapplied to mask other areas. Once the entire illustration has been painted in, all frisket is peeled off. At that point, colored pencil or brushwork, electric erasers or scraping with an exacto blade is sometimes used to finish out fine detail before sealing the illustration with acrylic or compatible spray fix.
Airbrush illustration is also employed by technical and medical illustrators and many artists have achieved photo realistic perfection in airbrushing.
